I’ve never been to a UNC men’s game in Carmichael Arena. The Dean Dome was built before I was born and I refuse to acknowledge whatever the deal was with that random NIT game. Carmichael holds a lot of importance in the history of Carolina basketball for obvious reasons. It’s where Dean Smith and Michael Jordan helped make the program what it is today.
We get to take a brief step back into that history today when the 2019-2020 squad takes on Wofford inside the confines of Carmichael. It should be a lot of fun, if for no other reason than the novelty of it all. For those of us of a certain age, it could very well be the first and only real chance to see the guys play where Jordan and so many others played before.
If you were lucky enough to score a ticket in the much lower capacity available for today’s game, it should be a treat. If you’re watching from home instead, here’s all the information you need to know in order to tune in.
