Once all the pieces fell into place, it was announced that the Tar Heels will be making the short trip up to Annapolis, Maryland to play in the Military Bowl. The Tar Heels will face off against the Temple Owls in Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Friday, December 27th at Noon. The game will be broadcast by ESPN.
This game will feature a lot of firsts for Carolina. It’ll be their first trip to the Military Bowl, which the ACC has been contracted with since its inception in 2008, and it’ll also be their first meeting in football with Temple.
The game should be an easy trip for Tar Heel fans, as it is the shortest bowl by distance from Chapel Hill outside of the Belk Bowl in Charlotte. Ever since representatives went to the NC State game last weekend, it had been rumored that Military Bowl wanted to snag Carolina for their Bowl.
Carolina will have a link on GoHeels.com where you can buy tickets to be guaranteed to sit with other Tar Heel fans, and tickets can also be bought on Military Bowl site. You can follow the @MilitaryBowl on Twitter.
2019 has been a special season for Carolina Football, and hopefully plenty of Tar Heels will go to Annapolis to celebrate!
