UNC vs Virginia Game Thread

Carolina tries to make it eight in a row when they host UVA.

It may have shaved years off our lives, but Carolina emerged victorious in their overtime game against Miami on Saturday. The win pushed UNC’s win streak to seven games ahead of what may be their most important game of the year. Virginia comes into Chapel Hill fresh off a home loss to Duke, the only team that has been able to beat the Cavaliers all year.

The key for the Tar Heels to be able to beat UVA is pretty clear: make Virginia play our speed. No team runs fast enough for Roy Williams and, conversely, no team likely plays slow enough for Tony Bennett. UVA is very good at rocking a team to sleep with their style of play. Carolina needs to speed them up if they want to win.

Another point of emphasis tonight will be three-point shooting on both sides. If Carolina can do a better job of limiting Virginia’s shots from distance, something they were unable to do against Chris Lykes on Saturday, while also making their own threes, things are more apt to go the way of the home team.

As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...

Go Heels!
