Between the Banners (TWICE!): Cole Anthony and Anthony Harris, Tar Heels.

Let’s talk about the newest Tar Heel ballers, let’s debate whether the Heels are in a true transitional period.

Did the 2019-2020 North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team just become nationally relevant, or did they just become an ACC contender?

Chad Floyd (@Chad_Floyd) is joined by Jake Lawrence (@therealestRJL) to bring some instant reactions to Cole Anthony’s commitment to North Carolina. The combo guard chose the Tar Heels over Oregon, Notre Dame, and Georgetown on Tuesday morning.

  • What does this mean for the UNC program going forward? Are they back in the one-and-done game?
  • How does this affect the Tar Heels’ roster construction as the 2019-20 Heels are still in flux? A quick discussion on a couple of graduate transfers and 2019 combo guard Anthony Harris.
  • What’s next?

We did our best to get to all of that in roughly 15 minutes.

BUT WAIT WE’RE NOT DONE!

Anthony Harris also signed with the Heels on Tuesday.

Joe Carpenter (@joecarpenteriv) came on later last evening to (presumably) drink some bourbon with me and discuss the impact of Harris’ commitment, as well as define ‘eras’ in the Roy Williams experience. Carolina’s transition from 2018-19, given the departures, is not as smooth as many of them have been, but the transitions typically create a similar feel despite a different cast of characters.

I hope y’all enjoy the intro to that offseason topic, despite some potentially more exciting breaking news.
