North Carolina guard Seventh Woods announced on Instagram Thursday that he intends to transfer to another program for his senior year. The move follows incoming five-star point guard Cole Anthony’s announcement this week that he’ll be attending UNC in the fall.

The writing was kind of on the wall with Woods after he had to backup Coby White last season and didn’t figure to be able to steal the starting spot away from Anthony in his final year in Chapel Hill. Injuries really hampered Seventh’s time at UNC and kept him from being able to grab the starting job in earnest.

Woods showed some brilliant flashes as the backup in relief of White last season. Unfortunately for him, Coby’s freshman season was just far too good for him to play any significant time. Cole Anthony figures to present a similar problem, so his decision to transfer makes a lot of sense in terms of what is best for his playing time.

Seventh did not announce where he’d be headed in his announcement, which you can read below. There is little doubt he’ll be a great pickup for some team in need of guard depth.
