It’s a rare week when basically everything I’m here to recap has been covered on this very website. I guess that’s what May does to us, huh? Hopefully, I can still give you some new information. Here we go:

Football:

• People who follow UNC recruiting across the webosphere raised their collective eyebrows when Clint Brewster logged a Crystal Ball prediction to UNC for 5-star defensive end Desmond Lawrence. We’ve talked about UNC as a perceived leader for Sanford’s Evans before, but this pick both has some family connections and puts a potential timetable to Evans’ decision. The best guys don’t usually commit until they have to, but an early Evans commit could do a ton for this class going forward and for the UNC program.
• Another defensive end, 3-star AJ Beatty from Pittsburgh, has scheduled an official visit to Chapel Hill the weekend of June 7th. He recently dropped a top 7 that consists of the Heels, UCF, NC State, Maryland, Purdue, West Virginia, and South Carolina.
• Jo’Quavious Marks, the four-star running back from Atlanta who was supposed to visit this past weekend, couldn’t make the visit and then committed to Mississippi State. Bummer.

Basketball

• All eyes in Tar Heel Nation are on Jalen Wilson, who has an official visit scheduled to UNC between June 3rd and 5th ahead of his decision on where he will spend his collegiate career. It’s worth noting that a return to Michigan is very much in play with their hiring of Juwan Howard as their new coach. This is certainly not an uninterested reaction:

• Day’Ron Sharpe’s stock and status has done nothing but grow since he committed to UNC as the ~75th-ranked player in the country. The 2020 big has kept growing, getting leaner, stronger, more skilled, and bouncier, and now, according to Rivals’ Corey Evans, is probably going to get a 5th star from Rivals (putting him in the nation’s top 24) when they next update their rankings. He’s 27th right now. You can’t say Roy Williams doesn’t know talent when he sees it.
• Precious Achiuwa committed to Memphis, as expected. Hell of a class they’ve got.
