2019 is going to be a huge year for the University of North Carolina football program. After two lackluster years, Hall of Fame head coach Mack Brown has returned to Chapel Hill, and his impact on the program was felt the second that he stepped on campus. His presence can be immediately felt when looking at the drastic improvement in recruiting, and with his brand new coaching staff in tow, Brown’s inaugural return to the field will begin the journey to get the Heels back to the top of the Coastal division, and maybe even the top of the ACC. It will take some time, but the future of the football program looks much brighter than it did just a year ago.
As fate would have it, we here at SB Nation have some exciting changes coming up for the start of football as well. All across the network, fans have shown such a fiery passion for their respective teams, and have never been afraid to let their voice be heard. However, we decided that the current means of giving fans a voice just wasn’t enough, and so we here at Tar Heel Blog would like to invite you to participate in a new, exciting initiative.
Here is a rundown with all the details about how this project will work:
We pride ourselves on being some of the biggest UNC fans on the internet here at Tar Heel Blog, and that means in depth discussion each day about how the Tar Heels are doing — whether they will win their upcoming game or how readers feel about that awful call from the refs (Admit it: you’re not completely over the offsides call against Clemson in the ACC Championship game either).
Now, we are starting a new polling project — including a brand new SB Nation NCAA Football Top 25 — that will pull together the insights of the most plugged-in Heels fans.
If that describes you, then sign up here to join us on SB Nation FanPulse.
If you sign up, you will be among a vetted group from THB who answers weekly survey of Tar Heels fans developed by SB Nation. The survey will start going out regularly once the season begins, and will be highlighted by a weekly Top 25 ranking by UNC fans. This is something that should take at most a few minutes a week to participate in.
We want to build the definitive Top 25 of informed college football fans, and that includes you. Your votes will be anonymous — though if you join, you are welcome (and encouraged!) to tell anyone you like. You’ll get to have your voice heard about whether Alabama is overrated or they’re not giving the Heels enough credit (fingers crossed) in the AP Poll week to week.
The results of each poll will be published by Tar Heel Blog and may end up on SBNation.com also, along with the results from other team sites.
This project was started on SB Nation’s NFL sites last season. Here’s an example of some of the results based on the confidence questions (which you’ll also get to answer!):
