The North Carolina Tar Heels have lofty expectations in 2019 on the pitch.

For the women, the Tar Heels were ranked second in the United Soccer Coaches preseason top 25. They are behind Florida State in the national rankings.

However, in an interesting twist, the Heels were chosen to win the ACC title over the Seminoles in a poll of conference coaches.

The women were the runner-ups of both the ACC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament last season. They are undoubtedly seeking to take the crown in both of those tournaments this year.

On the men’s side, Carolina is ranked sixth in the preseason poll. The only conference school ahead of UNC in the rankings is Wake Forest at fourth.

At the time of posting, the league votes were not announced. However, the ACC should be very competitive again this season. Four teams, including Carolina, are ranked top ten in the preseason poll and another three in the top 25.
