On August 24th and 25th, both the UNC Tar Heels and Duke Blue Devils will be hosting what is now the third annual Hoop-A-Thon fundraiser. The Carolina side will be commanded by former All-American forward Brice Johnson and will take place on Saturday the 24th in the Dean E. Smith Center Practice Facility. The Duke side will be led by the team’s current director of basketball operations, Nolan Smith, and is set to occur on Sunday the 25th in Cameron Indoor Stadium. All proceeds and donations go directly towards teen and adolescent cancer research at Teen Cancer America.

It only costs $25 to register and you will receive a “2019 TCA Hoop-A-thon Rivalry” t-shirt just for entering. The event itself grants each participant two minutes on the court in a competition to see who can take and make the most shots in that time frame. Both former and current Tar Heels will be present at the event.

Here’s a video from Johnson and Smith providing a little more detail in terms of what to expect.

Last year, over $20,000 was raised so, naturally, they had to up the ante. Each team has established a goal to raise at least $25,000. Also, as a fun bonus, the team that raises the most money will receive a trophy to display at their respective University.

If you would like to register or gather more information about the Hoop-A-Thon taking place in Chapel Hill, click here. Moreover, if you’d like to make a donation to Team Brice and the Tar Heels, you can do so here.

To all you Carolina fans out there, your donation could help the Heels notch another victory in the greatest rivalry in sports while also contributing to a great cause!
