Bold predictions are fun because they provide an easy outlet for the wildest levels of optimism. I asked the Tar Heel Blog staff to give me their hottest takes about the upcoming football season and they did not disappoint. Will these predictions turn out to be weirdly prophetic, or will they crash and burn?
Stay tuned.
Tanya Bondurant: Sam Howell makes first team All-ACC.
Brandon Anderson: The Tar Heels will take down all three ACC in-state schools.
Akil Guruparan: This year’s defense picks off more passes than the last two years combined.
Al Hood: Special teams will cost the team at least two games.
Chad Floyd: Carolina is going to open 0-5. They’re also going to go into Carter-Finley Stadium on November 30th with a chance to get a 6th win and bowl eligibility.
Douglas Valentine: Sam Howell will win ACC Rookie of the Year.
Evan Davis: Antonio Williams and Michael Carter both go for 1,000 yards on the ground. Big Four sweep with a loss to App State.
Jacob Cowden: Myles Wolfolk is going to lead the team in interceptions.
Jake Lawrence: UNC will sweep all in-state opponents and Tomon Fox will lead the team in sacks.
Joe Carpenter: Only 4 wins but one will be memorable.
Quintin Schwab: UNC football will finish the season with fewer overall losses than UNC basketball will finish with ACC losses.
