UNC vs Appalachian State: Tar Heels look to remain undefeated at home

Another game in sold out Kenan Stadium!

NCAA Football: North Carolina at Wake Forest Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Kenan Stadium is sold out for the second time so far this year for this afternoon’s game against Appalachian State. There is, weirdly, a lot on the line for UNC, as they are looking to get back in the win column against FBS teams from the state of North Carolina.

The Tar Heels are also looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season last Friday against Wake Forest. That game saw UNC surge in the fourth quarter once again, but they’d built themselves into such a hole that they weren’t able to climb fully out before time expired*.

Appalachian State is no little brother football program, however. They gave top 10 Penn State all they wanted just a year ago. The team is different now, of course, but they are still an opponent that must be taken seriously. Only showing up for one quarter will not be enough to get a victory today.

If you are watching along at home instead of at Kenan, hang out with us here in our game thread. As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete rundown of the happenings. Until then...

Go Heels!
