UNC vs. Miami: Home opener in sold out Kenan Stadium

Can the Tar Heels start the season 2-0?

There hasn’t been a whole lot to get excited about in Kenan Stadium the last two years, but the atmosphere in Chapel Hill tonight should be the most anticipated game there since maybe what the game against Virginia Tech should have been before Hurricane Matthew rolled in.

Kenan Stadium is sold out for tonight’s prime time matchup against the Hurricanes, and UNC is selling alcohol at an event on campus for the first time. Add to that the fact that Mack Brown was able to get out of Charlotte with a win against a Power Five team in the season-opener, and there is obvious excitement around the program once again.

Coming out strong against Miami tonight would be a huge statement from this team that wants to prove they are better than they were the last two miserable seasons. They have a freshman quarterback in Sam Howell who looks like he can sling it with the best of them when allowed to, a new coach who was the old coach but seems to have a better touch than the newer old coach, and a defense that really shined against South Carolina.

Hopefully UNC can do enough to come away with a win tonight. It would be a real testament to times changing in Chapel Hill if they could start the season 2-0, taking down a good Miami team in the process. Here’s to keeping the good feelings flowing!

As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...

Go Heels!
