Now that the calendars have flipped to 2020, UNC kicks off the regular part of conference play by hosting Georgia Tech at home. The Tar Heels have won two games in a row after going through a brutal stretch of four straight losses, but they’ll try to keep things rolling against Josh Pastner’s Yellow Jackets.
The importance of Jeremiah Francis grew even more after Anthony Harris’ ACL tear against Yale. Francis is the best healthy point guard option on the team with Cole Anthony still on the shelf, and Francis will need to keep helping facilitate the offense that has struggled to click to this point.
Carolina could really use a good game from Armando Bacot, who hasn’t looked the same since twisting his ankle against Ohio State. It’s easy to speculate that maybe that ankle still isn’t 100% after Bacot missed exactly zero games from what looked like a potentially ugly injury, but who knows if that’s actually the case. If UNC can get the Bacot that showed up in the Oregon game back, these middling ACC games will feel a lot less scary moving forward.
As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...
Go Heels!
