UNC won’t be playing basketball on a tropical island for the next several days. The pandemic has ruined a lot this year, and getting a chance to spend Thanksgiving watching a lot of college basketball from Hawaii over leftovers is one of them.
Asheville, NC, has kindly taken the tournament in, so that’s where UNC will be hoping to bring home another Maui-but-not-Maui Invitational title. Things seem to go pretty well for them when they are able to do so, if memory serves correctly.
Carolina kicked off their season last week with a win over College of Charleston. It was the first taste of action for a young Tar Heel team, but they were able to persevere enough to come back from a brief deficit and bring home a comfortable win. The team got really good contributions from freshmen Caleb Love and Day’Ron Sharpe. Hopefully both of them have an encore performance in them for tonight.
As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...
Go Heels!
