UNC Basketball: Stanford Game Thread

Bring it on, trees.

The beginning of last night’s game was probably a bit traumatizing to Tar Heel fans. It had all the makings of a performance from last year that ended in bitter defeat. However, these Tar Heels responded in a big way. UNLV missed shots that fell early on, and it was all Carolina the rest of the way.

That brings us to today. For UNC to stay in the winner’s bracket they’ll have to defeat a Stanford team with a player they would have loved to have on their side in Ziaire Williams. He scored 19 points as the Cardinal defeated Alabama to reach tonight’s game.

Carolina has more than few impressive freshmen of their own, of course. RJ Davis led the team in scoring last night with 16 points and three made three-pointers. Shots from beyond the arc were especially important with the way the Rebels were double-teaming in the post, and RJ was able to make it happen. Hopefully his fellow freshmen get in on the fun today.

As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...

Go Heels!
