For this first time in a couple months, we have no football poll to recap on this Monday afternoon. Until the conclusion of bowl season and the College Football Playoff, we’ve got nothing to recap.
On the other hand, basketball season rolls on. Despite Christmas being last week, it was still a pretty busy week. Eight ranked teams, including our North Carolina Tar Heels, lost games on the men’s side of things. The women didn’t have as action-packed a schedule, but there was still a couple all top 25 matchups that went down.
Now that the dust has settled, let’s look at where things stand in the AP Top 25 polls.

Where is UNC?
After the loss to a certain team, the Heels have dropped out of the top 25. They are the unofficial #28, having gotten 57 ranking points. That is 159 points behind #25 Ohio State, so, not shockingly, UNC wasn’t particularly close to getting ranked.
Biggest Winners
It was a big week for previously unranked Big Ten teams as both Northwestern and Minnesota got in easily after being outside the top 25 last week. Northwestern did so after picked up a second ranked win in less than a week, beating Ohio State on Saturday.
Biggest Losers
Virginia fell a week high seven spots after getting just completely owned by Gonzaga. The #1 Bulldogs put up 98 points and won by 23 against Virginia’s normally vaunted defense.
