UNC vs. Syracuse: Game Thread

Will the Tar Heels be able to handle the Orange’s 2-3 zone?

NCAA Basketball: N.C. State at North Carolina Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

The North Carolina Tar Heels (11-17 overall, 4-13 ACC) are set to take on the Syracuse Orange (16-12 overall, 9-8 ACC) in the Carrier Dome. The Heels are coming off of a big win against NC State, giving them their first win in the month of February. The Orange, however are currently on a two-game winning streak following the beatdown they delivered to Pitt. The Tar Heels only have three games left in the regular season and if they have any hopes of climbing out of last place, it starts today.

Naturally the question for today’s game will be who will be healthy and ready to play, but the other question is: will the Heels have enough to punish Syracuse’s 2-3 zone? It’s a tricky question this season, as UNC has been abysmal from the three-point line, but the counter is that players like Garrison Brooks and Christian Keeling have been really good mid-range shooters. Attack the “ACC logo” early and often, and there’s a chance that UNC could start their second win streak of ACC play (I know, that hurt me just typing it).

As always, we’ll be here after the game to recap today’s action. Go Heels!
