It’s been a while, my friends.
The last time we had a game thread I was sitting in the Greensboro Coliseum as word spread that the NBA had called off their season because Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus. Every other sport would soon follow in shuttering and postponing their seasons while the nation tried to stem the tide of the global pandemic.
Now, almost six months to the day, we’re here.
Some conferences have decided playing college football this season isn’t in their best interests. Others, like the ACC, have decided to press onward. Hopefully it goes well and we can hold on to the bit of normalcy that football can bring us as the weather turns a bit cooler.
Today is step one in that process. Carolina takes on Syracuse at Kenan Stadium with no fans in attendance. It’ll be weird, but it’ll be football. We get to see sophomore Sam Howell and company try and pick up where they left things off a year ago.
As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...
Go Heels!
