UNC vs. Texas A&M: Game Thread

Can the Tar Heels make this the second (and biggest) program win today by beating the Aggies in the Orange Bowl?

NCAA Football: Orange Bowl-Texas A&M vs North Carolina Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

I hope everyone had fun celebrating Carolina basketball’s first ACC win of the season earlier, because it is now time to stress ourselves out all over again. Carolina football is just moments away from taking on the Texas A&M Aggies in their first ever Orange Bowl appearance. I probably don’t have to tell anybody reading this just how big of a deal this is for the program, as just two years ago the Heels under Larry Fedora couldn’t buy a win and in-state recruiting was in shambles. Now Mack Brown has this program in an incredible position, and winning tonight’s game would push UNC into the national conversation next season.

The cold water on this game is that the Heels will be without some of their key players due to personal decisions to opt-out. However, it will be next man up as Phil Longo’s high-powered offense takes on one of the best defensive lines they have faced all season. On the other side of the ball the Heels will be without standout senior Chazz Surratt, and so we will see if his predecessor in Eugene Asante.

Win or lose, tonight’s game is going to be a program-changing moment and I am grateful that we all are here to experience it together. We will be back after the game with some post-game analysis. Deep breaths, everyone, this is going to be fun. Go Heels!
