UNC vs. Notre Dame: Game Thread

Will the Heels have the advantage coming off of a bye, or will the Irish send Mack &Co. packing back to Chapel Hill?

NCAA Football: Miami at North Carolina Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

The North Carolina Tar Heels (4-3) are just moments away from taking on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (6-1) in what will likely be the toughest road game of the season. Prior to the bye week, the Heels took down their Coastal rival Miami 45-42 in what was as wild of a game as you’d expect between the two schools. The Irish, however, are coming off of a throttling of their longtime rival USC (they still haven’t forgotten the Bush push), and hope to extend their win streak to three in a row.

The biggest question going into this game is whether or not the Tar Heels have found some form of stability during the bye week. The offense has been looking more and more dangerous each week, but there have still been some serious soft spots that needed to be addressed. On the other side of the ball, things have been somehow even more perplexing, as Jay Bateman’s defense allowed a total of 77 points over the last two games. Needless to say, this game would be huge for the Heels if they can pull off a victory, but at the same time South Bend is a very, very tough environment to play in. Yes, tougher than those guys up north that love Enter the Sandman a weird amount. Seriously, what’s with them and that song?

I digress, this should be a highly competitive game, but which way things will swing at any given time is really anybody’s guess. Feel free to hang out with us here during the game, and also stay tuned after the game for some post-game analysis.

Go Heels!
