UNC vs. Virginia: Game Thread

I hope all of you have your caffeine ready for this one.

NCAA Basketball: North Carolina at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The North Carolina Tar Heels are just moments away from taking on the Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottesville, VA. The Heels have had a horrendous time beating the Cavs on the road, as they have not won at John Paul Jones Arena since 2012. Needless to say that type of losing streak isn’t a great sign for what we are likely going to experience, but there is still the no fans factor of this game that will make this environment more unique than in the past. Will the Tar Heels be able to take advantage of a non-hostile environment and put an end to the losing streak? We will soon find out.

Naturally the player to keep a very close eye on this game will be Caleb Love. After catching fire against Duke in Cameron Indoor, there are a lot of questions about whether or not he will be able to do what he did on a consistent basis. He’ll have his work cut out for him against this pack line defense of Tony Bennett’s, and he’ll also be going against one of the peskiest point guards in the conference in Kihei Clark. If you aren’t a fan of a specific team, this will be a really interesting matchup. If you’re a Heels fan, however, it’s hard not to wonder if the drastic slowdown in pace will hinder Love’s ability to get anything done on offense.

As always, we’ll be back after the game for some post-call analysis. Until then, Go Heels!
