It was a big weekend for both North Carolina basketball programs.
On Saturday, the men went into Cameron Indoor Stadium to renew the rivalry with Duke. They came out with a win as they continue to try and turn things around
Not to be outdone, the women then took down #4 NC State at home, giving the Wolfpack their second loss of the season. It’s been an up and down season for the Heels, but that was an incredible up.
With both of those wins now in the books, let’s check in on what’s going on with the teams in top 25 voting.

The Heels are still in the “others receiving votes, but have made some progress. Not much, but they did improve on last week. UNC now has eight voting points, up from three previously. They’re now 57 points behind current #25 Rutgers.
Biggest Winners
There were a couple big increases this week, the biggest belonging to Missouri. The Tigers beat #10 Alabama, and are now into the top ten themselves. It’s the first time they’ve been this high since 2012-13. Other teams with big jumps are Illinois, Texas Tech, and USC, who all moved up six spots.
Biggest Losers
Texas and Iowa both dropped out of the top ten and fell seven spots each thanks to a losing streak for both. The Longhorns have now lost three in a row, while the Hawkeyes have taken Ls in two-straight, including one to unranked Indiana.

Where is UNC?
Despite the win over NC State, the Heels still didn’t receive any votes in the latest poll. Unfortunately, three straight losses and six of seven prior to the win over the Wolfpack hampered any chance they had of cracking the top 25.
Biggest Winners
South Carolina benefitted from the Heels’ win, moving up to #1. Had UNC not pulled off the upset, State would likely be there after they had beaten Louisville earlier in the week.
Biggest Losers
State goes in this category based on what UNC did, but the Wolfpack are actually exactly where they ended up in last week’s poll. Kentucky had the biggest drop of the week, falling five spots.
