UNC Basketball: ACC Tournament Notre Dame Game Thread

Let’s do the thing.

NCAA Basketball: Duke at North Carolina Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Carolina gets their first crack at the ACC Tournament tonight when they take on 11th seeded Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish advanced to Wednesday by beating Wake Forest on a buzzer-beating three-pointer on Tuesday. UNC got the better of Mike Brey’s team in their only meeting this season, a narrow 66-65 victory.

The Tar Heels are fresh off a drubbing of their biggest rivals to close out the regular season. Hopefully some of that mojo carries over to give them a good tournament run that can help them cement seeding in the NCAA Tournament to follow. UNC got production up and down the lineup on Saturday with three players scoring 18 points each to lead the team. They will definitely need that firepower again tonight.

A date with Virginia Tech awaits whichever team emerges victorious tonight. The Hokies could be rusty after dealing with COVID issues down the stretch. If UNC advances, it’ll be their first meeting with VT this season because their regular season game was canceled.

As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...

Go Heels!
