Mack Brown has done it again: three-star 2022 defensive end Bryson Jennings has just announced that he will be attending the University of North Carolina for his college career. This commitment may come as a shock to some, which we will explain in a bit, but his commitment gives Brown his 10th commit in this class, and his sixth three-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Jennings weighs in at 6’6, 235-lbs and currently plays for Clover Hill High School in Midlothian, VA. He is the 425th-best player in this class, and also the 21st-best edge rusher. The buzz was that UNC and Virginia Tech were really the two schools that were being targeted by Jennings, and it was thought that the Hokies had the edge. Bryson’s father, Bryan Jennings, was a first-team All-Big East tight end at Virginia Tech before going on to play in the NFL for the Chargers, Patriots, and Titans. We’ve seen situations like this one play out in favor of family tradition before, but Mack Brown and his staff continue to do a tremendous job of convincing recruits that Carolina is the place to be for both their academic and their athletic futures.
This likely won’t be the last announcement that will be made this week, as four-star cornerback Daylen Everette is expected to make his announcement Saturday. Check back in with us here at Tar Heel Blog, as we will provide coverage when the news drops. In the meantime, what do you think of UNC’s newest commit, and about the job that Mack Brown has done so far with the 2022 class? Let us know in the comments below.
