Sept. 18 - Walters State - 1:30pm
Oct. 15 - Vanderbilt - 3:30pm
Oct. 8, 9, 16 - Fall World Series - TBA
We'll see you at the Bosh ⚾️ #GoHeels https://t.co/T1rstYAs92
All games will be played in Chapel Hill at Boshamer Stadium. The exhibition games against Walters State and Vanderbilt will be interspersed between intra-squad scrimmages, all open to the public for free.
For those so inclined, this Saturday is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a full day of Tar Heel fun, as the weather is supposed to be lovely (high of 85, partly cloudy). Fans can stop by the Bosh to see the Diamond Heels play Walters State at 1:30pm, then head over to Kenan Stadium to see the football team take on Virginia at 7:30pm.
The Diamond Heels were uneven in Scott Forbes’ inaugural season after the retirement of longtime manager Mike Fox. UNC finished the season with an 28-27 overall record (18-18 ACC record), and were swept by NC State, Liberty, and Notre Dame.
The bullpen led to nervous viewing, and heroic efforts by starting pitchers Austin Love (first-team All-ACC) and Max Alba were too often squandered. Love is lost (to the St. Louis Cardinals), as are the bats of Caleb Roberts (Diamondbacks) and Justice Thompson (Reds).
Last season ended somewhat despondently, as Carolina made it to the CWS Regional stage. But after a thrilling 5-4 win over UCLA, the Heels were subsequently humbled by hosts Texas Tech (7-2), then UCLA in their revenge game (12-2).

Still, that wasn’t as heartbreaking as having to forfeit due to rampant COVID-19 in the team, so there’s that.
