UNC’s pre-Christmas schedule has been a rough one. Including tonight, they’ve faced five ranked teams in their last six contests with only Florida State falling outside the Top 25. The Tar Heels were able to beat Arkansas and Tennessee, but lost to UConn and Kentucky. No one can say they haven’t been tested.
Tonight will be more of the same as they take on the 7th-ranked Sooners in the Jumpman Invitational in Charlotte. Oklahoma is a perfect 10-0 on the season so far. Both teams are averaging 84 points per game, but Oklahoma has limited opponents’ points better and shot better from the field.
Hopefully Carolina can get more from Armando Bacot on offense than they did in the loss to Kentucky in Atlanta last Saturday. Bacot is obviously a big part of what the Tar Heels do and they can’t do it well if he’s only able to get nine points. Hubert Davis will also be hoping that someone off the bench can be a spark on offense as well, as that was a feature of some of those early season games where the Tar Heels were able to come away victorious.
As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...
