UNC Recruiting: 2025 five-star Caleb Wilson will officially visit for the UNC/Duke game

We will have at least one VIP for the Tobacco Road Rivalry game next month.

There are a lot of big names on Hubert Davis’ 2025 recruiting board, and one of them has announced that he will be on campus very soon. 2025 five-star power forward Caleb Wilson has recently announced that he will officially visit this February when UNC takes on Duke in the Dean Smith Center. This announcement was made via On3.com’s Joe Tipton:

Right now Caleb Wilson is ranked as the fifth-best player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and is the third-best power forward. The 6’11 five-star has been largely known for his explosiveness, his defensive versatility, and his impressive passing ability. There was talk for a while that he could potentially reclassify and join the 2024 class, but back in November he told 247Sports that it is very unlikely that he will do so.

So far Wilson has taken visits to Auburn, Kentucky, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Alabama. It sounds like his preference is to stay relatively close to his family, so when throwing in UNC the current list of potential schools makes a lot of sense. As far as how he is feeling about the Tar Heels specifically, here is what he told On3.com:

“They’re a blue blood,” he said. “I like seeing what those guys have to offer. I definitely love Carolina. Michael Jordan went there. They have rich basketball culture which is something I want in a school.”

The UNC/Duke game has always been a popular game for recruits to arrive on campus, so it wouldn’t surprise me if we heard more players announcing a visit in the coming weeks. As far as the 2025 class goes, so far Hubert Davis has not landed a recruit but has offered nine players. It’s still very early in the recruiting process, and also Davis did land some big-time players to likely play alongside Elliot Cadeau in 2024, so perhaps we will see some commitments get announced once everyone involved has a better handle on what this roster could look like after the 2024-25 season.
