UNC vs. LSU: How to watch, channel, streaming

It’s a winner-take-all to host West Virginia in the Super Regionals.

It was never going to be easy to defeat last year’s National Champion.

Behind a strong start by the LSU offense, the Tigers defeated Carolina 8-4 in the first regional final game last night. The UNC bats started to heat up as the bullpen was able to cool down the LSU offense, however the Tar Heels continued to leave men on the base paths and were unable to complete the comeback like they did on Friday night.

Thus we have the winner-take-all game tonight. Both teams now have one loss, both teams have gotten past their usual third day starter, and it creates the situation where you’ll have both teams playing like there is no tomorrow. Cliche aside, you know both squads were trying to use their bullpen in Sunday’s game with an eye on Monday, but now there’s no saving an arm. The good news for Carolina is that while they had to dig deep into the pullpen on Sunday, two of the best arms in the pen—Ben Peterson and Dalton Pence—didn’t have to throw, and usual first starter Jason DeCaro only threw 60 pitches on Friday.

The Tar Heel offense also hasn’t had many problems this weekend, and as strong as LSU’s top starters have been, their pen has shown some weakness. UNC also has the rest advantage as they will have played one less game over the weekend, plus the Tigers will be coming off a double header on Sunday—where teams may feel it more the next day than they do a few hours after playing.

All that said, there’s a reason betting markets have this game as a coin flip as LSU is just a ridiculously strong opponent for the 4th national seed.

Awaiting the winner—West Virginia, who was the three seed and the upset winner of the Tucson Regional. That means whoever takes the game today will be at home next weekend for the Super Regional series and the right to go to Omaha for the College World Series. Arguably, this game will be the tougher test for either squad before next weekend.
