The men’s basketball team drops a few spots in the Week Five rankings

Football

On the football side of the polls, not much to report for the North Carolina Tar Heels. The College Football Playoff is set, with No. 4 Washington taking on No. 1 Alabama in the Playoff Semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, and No. 3 Ohio State facing off against No. 2 Clemson in the Playoff Semifinal at the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl.

Here’s how the AP Poll went down for Week 15:

The only game on the schedule this week is the Army-Navy game. The Midshipmen fell from the AP Poll after losing to Temple in the American Athletic Conference Championship Game last week. They are ranked #25 in the College Football Playoff poll. The military academies will face off this Saturday at 3:00 PM at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Basketball

The traditional powerhouses of college basketball are back at the top of the polls. Via ESPN:

After UNC’s loss at Indiana and win at home against Radford, the Heels are at #7 in the AP Poll. Here’s the entire poll:

Top 25 Games this Week

Last night, the #21 Florida Gators took on the #5 Duke Blue Devils at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Duke won 84-74 at the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden.

On Saturday, #1 Villanova will take on #23 Notre Dame in a noon game at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. At 4:30, #22 Cincinnati will play #16 Butler at the Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The Heels have two home games this week. On Wednesday, UNC will play Davidson in a 9:00 PM game. On Sunday, the Heels take on the Volunteers, as Tennessee will travel to Chapel Hill for a 5:00 PM match up.
