A top 15 matchup and a very weird revenge game highlight the conference slate this weekend.

At this point of the season, it makes sense if you don’t want to watch UNC football. It’s understandable. If you are looking to avoid the Tar Heels, or just want to know what’s going on around the conference when Carolina isn’t playing, here are interesting ACC games coming up this week.

#14 NC State (6-1) at #9 Notre Dame (6-1)

A year ago these two teams played in a hurricane game the same day UNC played Virginia Tech in their own rain-soaked game. Despite the Tar Heels and Hokies being a bigger game considering the status of those two teams in 2016, NC State and Notre Dame became more infamous due to the shambolic nature of the Irish’s play that day and that season.

Flash forward a year, these two teams meet again, but now they’re both top 15 teams. This time, the game shifts to South Bend and it probably won’t be as wet.

Notre Dame has truly proved they’re not as bad as the 4-8 team they were in 2016, annihilating USC 49-14 last week. Meanwhile, State is coming off their sixth straight win, holding serve against Pitt last Saturday.

Someone who watched the hurricane game a year ago probably wouldn’t have guessed that the rematch would be a top 15 matchup. However, we’re here and this game now means quite a bit for both teams.

Georgia Tech (4-2, 3-1 ACC) at #7 Clemson (6-1, 4-1 ACC)

Clemson will take the field for the first time since their loss to Syracuse two weeks ago. In the loss, quarterback Kelly Bryant went down, however he’s been cleared and will likely take the field on Satuday.

Waiting for this is perpetually tricky Georgia Tech. Following their win over Wake Forest, the Yellow Jackets are on track to have a pretty solid season. Clemson are favorites, got a bye week in the lead up to prepare for the option, and have won four of the last five in the series, so things are leaning in their direction. However, if Bryant or the Tigers aren’t right, Georgia Tech could absolutely trip them up.

Louisville (5-3, 2-3 ACC) at Wake Forest (4-3, 1-3 ACC)

Three words: Wakeyleaks revenge game.

Following this game last year, the story that a Wake Forest radio color commentator had been leaking inside information to opposing teams broke. While it’s never been definitely confirmed, there are some signs that Louisville might have used the information they received in the game.

Now the Demon Deacons get a chance to get some revenge. Unfortunately for them, they come into this game on a three-game losing streak. Since starting 4-0, they’ve dropped three straight. A loss in this one would be bad for their bowl chances considering the rest of their schedule.

Since the highs of the first couple weeks, Louisville has dropped a couple games. Despite the losses, Lamar Jackson has kept up his production. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner is closing in on another 3000 passing yards, 1000 rushing yards season.

This game might not end up being interesting, but it goes on the list for being part of the weirdest “scandal” in recent memory.
