Football
UNC had a big week, on the field and off. The Tar Heels beat Pittsburgh on Thursday night, the basketball season is now underway, and the program got two new football commits. Three-star running back Devon Lawrence chose North Carolina over UCLA after rebuking an official visit to California in favor of a second trip to Chapel Hill that sealed the deal for him. UNC got another commit from three-star defensive end Nick Fulwider.
Larry Fedora also made several offers for the 2019 recruiting class. Three-star strong-side defensive end Jamarcus Chatman and three-star tight end Nick Gallo were extended offers. The program also sent out offers to cornerback Aman Greenwood and weak-side defensive end Tre'Mon Morris-Brash.
Basketball
Three Tar Heels made their commitments official this week when they signed their National Letters of Intent. Five-star guard Coby White and four-star small forward Rechon Black have been in the picture for awhile now, but five-star small forward Nassir Little joined them back in October. Now, all three have signed on to become UNC’s first official recruits for the class of 2018.
Not all recruiting stories ended well for the Tar Heels, though. Five-star shooting guard Romeo Langford cut his list down to three teams, and North Carolina was left behind. At this moment, he’s still considering Indiana, Kansas, and Vanderbilt. It’s certainly disappointing to lose out on someone this talented, but the 2018 class is already packed with talent as it is. You can’t win them all.
