After picking up two quarterback commitments from the 2018 class in the last couple weeks, another one from the class of 2020 is also showing interest in the Tar Heels. Scottsdale, Arizona quarterback Jack Miller is expected to visit UNC in the coming weeks.
Miller, who will also visit Florida State, is considered one of the best QB prospects in the 2020 class. He has already received offers from the likes of Ohio State, which is pretty noteworthy for a recruit that is going into just his sophomore year of high school.
Miller’s arm strength and accuracy on deep balls are highly touted. His high school coach described him as having the “best deep ball he’s ever seen.” He’s expected to develop into a five-star recruit, and may attract even more of the big name teams as the years go by.
There’s obviously still a very long time to go in Miller’s recruitment. He still has three seasons of high school football to play, never mind him actually showing up on a college campus or in a game.
All that said, it’s not a bad thing that North Carolina is at least an option for someone who will be one of the best quarterbacks of his class.
This, plus the Tyler Shough and Jace Ruder commitments, all come on the heels of Mitch Trubisky going second overall in the NFL draft. The uptick in quarterback recruiting might not be totally down to Trubisky’s selection, but there appears to be at least a slight correlation.
