Tar Heels News 8/18/16: "The Rude Boyz" of UNC's secondary look to pick up where they left off

Michael Shroyer/Getty Images | Avery Trendel: The Seahawks have their Legion of Boom, the Broncos have their No Fly Zone, and the Tar Heels are calling their secondary the Rude Boyz. Ready to pick up where they left off last year, leading the ACC in interceptions and passes defended, the Rude Boyz think they can continue to elevate the Heels on the field. The Tar Heels are favorited to win the ACC conference championship in men's soccer, as voted on by the 12 league coaches. Carolina received five first place votes, edging out Clemson with three first place votes. The soccer guys will kick their season off on August 26th. | Adam Lucas: As the coach of the 1976 Olympic basketball team, Dean Smith put aside the bigger picture in favor of one thing: winning. Phil Ford recalls that it was the only time he ever heard Coach Smith talk about how important it was to win, acknowledging that it was probably the only way he could have coached that team to victory.

Burlington Times-News | Bob Sutton: Tom Sheldon, UNC's 27-year-old freshman punter from Australia, has become a bit of a father figure to his special teams teammates. He also calls Larry Fedora "mate" apparently. Sheldon's punting received strong reviews from Mack Hollins, perpetuating rumors that Sheldon has the ability to kick the ball to the sky. Guess we'll find out soon enough how true that is.
