Tomorrow we hear about which UNC commits officially sign with North Carolina, but some have already made their choice, signed their letter, and are heading to college. Four-star cornerback Tre` Shaw has elected to enroll into the University of North Carolina and is already on campus.
The Ellenwood, Georgia native received a lot of attention over the last year. He was offered by top schools like Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. He also received offers from Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, NC State, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest before committing to UNC in July. He took his official visit in October before enrolling this month.
The six-foot, 180-pound cornerback is ranked 318th in the national composite and is considered the no. 32 prospect in his home state. Shaw is also considered to be the 35th-best cornerback in the 2017 class.
The loss of Des Lawrence to graduation has created a wide opening for Shaw to push his way into playing time. M.J. Stewart will lead the way this year, but with Corey Bell as the team’s only alternative, Shaw will be very important in the coming year.
