The University of North Carolina has announced that offensive tackle Jordan Tucker has officially signed his National Letter of Intent today on National Signing Day. Tucker received offers from Tennessee, Louisville, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri, Syracuse Virginia Tech, Auburn, and many other programs before he made his decision.
The Tar Heels offered him in May, and Tucker committed in January during his official visit to Chapel Hill. He is the no. 748 player in the the 2017 class and is considered the no. 71 offensive tackle. The Roswell, Georgia is also considered the 76th-best out of his home state.
At six-foot-seven and 350-pounds, he is a big boy. Because of his size, he will have to work on improving his conditioning. The coaching staff will also have to help him work on his footing and technique to ensure he can get the most out of his natural strength.
The offensive line was a huge problem for the team in 2016. John Ferranto missed his entire senior year to injury, and with him and Jon Heck graduating, the O-line is going to be in need of some reinforcements. Four-star offensive guard Jonah Melton has enrolled early, so the combination of these two should help a lot.
