The University of North Carolina has announced that offensive tackle Marcus McKethan has signed his National Letter of Intent on National Signing Day. He was recruited by offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic, though he saw very little interest elsewhere. He received an offer from NC State and visited South Carolina’s campus.
Despite the lack of interest, the Tar Heels are still getting a big dude in the six-foot-six, 328-pound McKethan. He was named as the no. 56 offensive guard in the 2017 class and the 16th-best player from South Carolina.
The Barnwell, South Carolina native first visited in June before committing later that same month. He took his official visit in January.
This year, the Tar Heels have recruited many offensive linemen in their quest to improve over 2016. Fellow offensive tackles Jordan Tucker and Billy Ross will also be a part of the class, giving McKethan some competition to emerge from.
