The Tar Heels add another running back to their growing list of recruits for the 2018 season after Ronnie Walker Junior included the program in his list of top 10 schools. This now makes a total of 15 running backs that North Carolina has offers out on, and Walker is one of the best.
The five-foot-ten, 190-pound athlete is considered to be a four-star talent and ranks fourth among UNC running back recruits on 247 Sports’ list of the school’s 2018 offers. He ranks 312nd overall in his class and is the no. 16 running back in the country. As a resident of Hopewell, Virginia, Walker is also the fifth-best player from his home state.

Walker has attracted enough attention to receive offers from about 20 different schools. Among his top 10 include Duke, Michigan State, Indiana, Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgers, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and NC State. Defensive assistant coach John Papuchis and new running backs coach DeAndre Smith have been heading up his recruitment.
The Tar Heels are in desperate need of some additional offensive weapons after the mass exodus the team has suffered this offseason. Their strong running back duo of Elijah Hood and T.J. Logan are now gone, and there aren’t a lot of obvious candidates to fill their roles. Incoming freshman Michael Carter has a good chance of gaining playing time right from the start, and Walker could be next in line if he comes to Chapel Hill.
According to Scout.com, Walker is a dynamic and instinctive runner who needs to work on his blocking abilities and pass catching. This is a player who has the tools to become a standout player at the college level.
