Roy Williams and the Tar Heels have gone fishing for a big prospect by offering Vernon Carey, Jr., the top player in the class of 2019. It’s difficult to even think about a season so far away, but UNC is simply doing their due diligence and planning for the future.
As you might expect of the top talent of an entire class, Carey is a five-star power forward who tops the full board of rankings. He’s no. 1 in the country, at his position, and in his home state of Florida.
Blessed to receive a offer from The University of North Carolina!!!⚪️ #tarheels pic.twitter.com/Kb1YYMfPrg

The six-foot-nine, 245-pound athlete has 15 offers at the moment with many others yet to officially extend a scholarship. Top schools who are currently on him include Florida, UCONN, Kansas, Tennessee, and UCLA. ACC teams in the running are Miami, Florida State, and Louisville. As a Fort Lauderdale native, he has been recruited heavily by the Hurricanes thus far.
This offer to Carey, Jr. now makes seven offers out in the 2019 class. UNC has already offered point guards Ashton Hagans and Jeremiah Francis, shooting guard Josh Nickelberry, small forwards Matthew Hurt and Wendell Moore, and power forwards James Wiseman and Armando Bacot. As we previously wrote, Francis has already named North Carolina in his top 10.
